for the sake of the call, II.

Man. I sat in on a meeting today (as a rep for SEND! b/c Joe wasn't here...) between ____, Ryu, and Terri to discuss stuffs for after ____ leaves for East Asia... We talked about all the logistics about what to do in the event that something were to happen to her, things like what to do with her mail, how to handle communication between her and the church, etc... I had known that she would be leaving for Central Asia for two years, but for some reason, it didn't hit me until this afternoon how real this call is in her life and how much is going to be demanded of her. I think I've grown accustomed to people leaving for short term M trips and coming back after a few weeks or a few months, but a few years is a completely different story. But if you think about it, even a few years is still short term! Living as an M for the rest of your life - wow. That's legit. Not coming back to the US for two years, adjusting to a completely foreign culture, saying goodbye to all the things and people you grew up with... man. You really are leaving an old life behind to take on an entirely new life. Definitely some heavy things for me to wrestle with as I think about my life, too.

I'm pretty sure I had another post on this earlier, but here it is again....

We will abandon it all for the sake of the call
No other reason at all but the sake of the call
Wholly devoted to live and to die
For the sake of the call
